May is healthy vision month and Nostalgic Eye Care is continuously participating in our community to provide vision services and educate individuals so that they can lead healthier lives and protect their most precious sense, their sight!
Nostalgic Eye Care was happy to host Global Impact Day 2022 and partner with both Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and National Optometric Student Association (NOSA) at Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Dr. Herring’s Alma Mater, by donating our talents and resources to help those in need in our community.
On Saturday, April 9th, 2022 we hosted an event where individuals of all age groups and denominations from the African Family Health Organization (AFAHO) were invited to our practice to receive an eye examination and a complimentary frame and lens of their choice. AFAHO serves African and Caribbean immigrants and refugees in the greater Philadelphia area by providing these individuals with health, human and educational services to promote their integration into the community to enable them to thrive and work to become self-sufficient. Nostalgic Eye Care was proud to provide services to support the unique mission of AFAHO.
We found this event to be a very rewarding experience for our team as well as the optometry students who took time out of their busy weekends to give back to the community and make a difference in someone’s life. We contributed to healthy vision month by instilling the education of proper eye care into people in our community. While providing the gift of sight with a free exam and glasses.
Nostalgic Eye Care is committed to providing excellent services in which each patient who walks out our door has positive memories of their encounter with our office. The students were grateful to have the opportunity to volunteer within their career field. The patients were gifted glasses–some experiencing vision correction for the first time in their lives. We were honored to serve our community and wish to continue to give back as we are able.
